Mike Pitman takes us through the talking points coming out of the Canadian Grand Prix.

So what did we learn from the Stormcharge Superleague Canadian Grand Prix?

1. Puschke's still got it

Sitting 8th in the standings coming into the event people were understandably talking he had already lost the title. Claiming his first win of the season and in such an emphatic way with pole and lapping all but the podium drivers it was a dominant and veteran performance from the current drivers champion.

2. Fidock can drive in the rain

After two disappointing races in changeable conditions last season arguably cost him the title Fidock showed that is behind him. Coming from a back of grid penalty to finish second an argument could be made that he could have been challenging Puschke for the win had that not been the case.

3. Edonis show a small chink in the armour

So far this season the team in only its second year a superleague has been doing everything right like you'd expect a veteran team to do. Unfortunately this was the first race with rain this season and both drivers opted for wet tyres at their first pitstop which was ultimately the wrong decision and cost them time and valuable points. Let's hope it?s not too costly at the end of the season

4. Kernow continue their revitalisation

This team have been a revelation this season, off track by far the most active in the media and on track Brewer & De Vos have been punching well above expectations. Canada was another example of this with a 5th & 9th. The team could even feel disappointed with that considering how the race unfolded, it just shows the contrast to last year where the goal was to get two cars on the start line.

5. Superleague is unpredictable

To all those that think the championship is not at the level of other series just watch this season. The level of skill and also unpredictability shown this year with 5 different race winners in 7 races a drivers title that is currently separated by 1 point and constructors by 8! It would be a brave man to predict the final outcome.

6. Midnight who?

The team pulled out on the eve of this race and was a big talking point in the build-up. After the race did anyone remember the two blue cars had been missing? There was so much action and changes happening that the series is bigger than any one team, even a team as successful as Midnight had been. In stark contrast to Kernow who hit rock bottom and are returning up. Midnight for them to be remembered as the team's results from the past 18 months and not the winning team that they were is a shame.

7. Nijo get off the mark

Another historically successful team which was unfortunately getting embarrassing finally had their blushes saved by an Aussie and are now off the mark. Is this a turn in the tide? Silverstone may know more.
