Kernow Sport gives us their report from a disappointing round 17 of the Superleague championship in Mexico.

It was unfortunately another pointless result for the team in Mexico; the second half of the season lately seems to have seen us not fulfilling our potential and scoring less than half what we took in total in the first half of the season.

With Bart missing the race it fell to team manager Mark Wicks to step in. He hadn't driven the car since the preseason tests and so was quite rusty: the car having improved massively in that time made adapting easier, but his aim was just to be on track and finish.

TM Wicks: "With me in the car any chance of good points rested on Dan's shoulders. He began well enough and ran about 8th for the opening laps and diced with championship contenders. It all fell apart though rather quickly when a screen-freeze on the second straight speared him off track and heavily into a wall. He managed to return to pits and run for a little while longer until unfortunately we had to call it a day on his car.

For myself I knew I wasn't going to be competitive and so survival was name of the game. I plugged away at it trying to stay consistent and make no mistakes. Other than running wide a couple of times I managed that. Found myself lapped 3 times by the winner Mascuilli, and brought the car home 17th. I was hoping for a high attrition to be able to score a point or two but it wasn't to be. And so no points at all for the team. For myself there was a personal record at stake, in that I'm the only person to start and finish Superleague races in 12 consecutive seasons: a milestone that'll take some effort to equal by today's youngsters on the grid: and it shows just how long I've been around.

Anyway we have one race to go. Bart and Dan are thoroughly up for it to score a last result of the season the team deserves and to round out the year with some points scoring success.

#12 Wicks: 17th
#83 Brewer: DNF

Points: 146
Position: 6th
