Edge Esports' Petar Brljak put in a commanding drive to claim victory in round three of the GPVWC WTF1 Superleague, Ewan Gale reports.
The Croatian driver led home from Jannick Bock and Alex Siebel, who both made it three podiums from three races this season.

The result gives Edge Esports and Brljak their first podium of the season, whilst breaking the domination of Bock and his Evolution squad.

Brljak qualified second behind Red Archer's Fabio Sixta but made a move for the lead with the aid of DRS into turn ten.

Siebel and Bock started fifth and seventh respectively and had to use the supersofts to battle their way through in the second stint, with the luckless Edonis driver Eros Masciulli dropping down from a comfortable third whilst running on the soft compound tyre.

With Brljak extending the gap at the front to around four seconds after the final stop, Bock, Siebel and Sixta were left to fight it out for the final podium positions. Bock was able to sprint clear of the other two, who had a real ding-dong battle in the closing stages.

The ACR Zakspeed driven by the reigning champion had seemed to breeze past Sixta with five laps remaining. But the Red Archer came flying back, using the slipstream at turn four to retake the position, only to run wide at turn eight and allow Siebel back past.

There was no such drama for Brljak up front as he eased to victory to take his fourth Superleague win.

Sergi Heras put in a drive of the day performance to finish fifth place after starting twelfth - the Flag-to-Flag machine storming through with some brilliant overtaking maneuvers. He wasn't the only one who was able to fly through the field, with Scuderia Basilea's Stephane Rouault climbing seven places to sixth, the second Evolution car of Dennis Jordan fighting back from a first lap excursion to finish eighth, and Epic Racing Team's Geoffrey Fournier climbing eight places to complete the top ten.

Michael Eyres - who made up twelve places - Jeroen Kweekel, Germano Zappala, Maciej Mlynek and Florian Geier rounded out the points finishers.

The result means that Bock extends his lead at the top of the standings to 18 points over Siebel, with Brljak moving up to fifth. Sixta's third fourth position keeps him behind the three Germans up front.

Evolution also extend their lead over ACR Zakspeed to 52 points. Edge Esports move up to fourth behind Red Archer.
