A Maguire one-two capped off a dramatic GPVWC return to Australia.
Jake Denehan extended his Superleague championship lead at the Australian Grand Prix after finishing behind a Maguire one-two.

Nocturne driver Adam Maguire led home THR's Luke by 2.6secs from pole position, though his run to victory was anything but easy.

The Irish driver had led through to the first round of pit stops but with the majority of the field switching to hard tyres, Denehan's decision to fit mediums left the Edge driver with an advantage which saw him take the lead.

Maguire regained the position before Denehan made his second stop, with the undercut proving powerful as the Edge again hit the front.

Denehan's race looked sewn up when Maguire was hit with a penalty for pit lane speeding, but the former champion was stellar in his fightback, clawing back over 10 seconds to secure victory following a mammoth battle in the closing stages.

Luke waited until the penultimate lap before stealing second, whilst Tom Stevens ensured the championship damage was limited by fighting from 10th to fourth.

Zsolt Szucs finished fifth for Edonis ahead of the RSR pairing of Daniel Stepkowski and Tomasz Wach.

Mike Kwint secured eighth with Jukkapekka Lalu and David Fidock completing the top 10.

The result means Denehan leads Stevens by four points, with Adam Maguire 16 points further adrift, whilst THR holds a 10 point advantahe over Edge in the constructors' standings.

In Superlights, Owen McGaugie was in imperious form as he extended his championship lead out to 24 points over Fabrizio Gobbi.

The Road2Formula driver led home Liam de Waal by 13.956s with Dylan Platt rounding out the podium.

But McGaugie's championship rival Fabrizio Gobbi threw away a strong result with a late incident, though the Virtualdrivers by TX3 driver recovered to secure fifth.

Heigo Poom joined TR Motorsports team-mate Platt in the top five.

In the constructors' standings, Road2Formula enjoys a 15 point lead over Virtualdrivers by TX3, with TR Motorsports 36 poinst further behind in third.

For the first time this season there were no drivers on the podium for both races in Formula Sprint 1.

Jack Mayor and Szymon Frelik secured a TOP one-two in race one, with Mike Kwint finishing third for Malta Force.

The win was Mayor's first of the season though Frelik had won three of the four to come before it.

In race two, Thomas Harvey prevailed for Spark to keep his name in the championship fight as leader Frelik retired.

Frank Hamming put his steady start to the season behind him to collect second for HGP, with Maciej Hyla picking up his third podium of the year in the BuildSim machine.

Luke Mitchell picked up his third win in five races in race one of the Formula Sprint 2 - the Alfa Sierra driver keeping his championship lead after the round.

Patrekur Magnussen marked his first start for Red VEN with a stellar drive to second, finishing ahead of Noa Tuomala in the KV86.

Race two saw new names on the podium, the win going to KAP Clay driver Tommi Koivunen.

The Finn held off Seva Panasenko in the VMS-SunEdits and Craig Patteson in the Priority 1.
