Despite missing the opening round, Rouven Meschede has taken two victories and four podiums in 2025, helping Optiminal to lead the team's championships, whilst leading the driver's himself, in Superlights.
In a wide-ranging interview, Toby Davis spoke with Rouven about how his season has gone so far.

Highlighting how unpredictable GPVWC has been in 2025, Rouven said 'The season has been a roller coaster of mixed feelings. On the one side I had a really consistent season so far and Joseph was involved in a lot of collisions and so on.'

Rouven is right. He has been super-consistent - 2 first places, and 2 2nd places, alongside a 4th at Turkey has proven to be a great start to the season for the affable German. '...I think we could be much further in the championship if things went more our way but we are pretty happy with leading both championships. I think we expected to be fighting for wins etc, so I think we actually meet our expectation.'

Even his 4th place at Turkey wasn't completely straightforward though. Rouven said 'the worst moment has been the spin in Turkey for me. Missed first round and then doing a mistake which costed me probably the win was a gutted feeling.'

Notably, Rouven was keen to speak about Hurlock, his team mate, saying '(for) Joseph i think you can say he best moment was in Jeddah to be in 2nd place while having lots of fighting going on. His worst moment was probably Spain as we had really good pace and he got destroyed by someone in the pitlane.'

'I hope that there is more luck on Joseph side because then i think we can go on to win the championship. I hope that we continue as we did we having many podiums and wins.'

He's a confident man, is Rouven! Meschede, his surname, the same as the town that he's from, went on to say 'at the moment, things are looking good for me so I hope I can win the driver's championship and I think Optiminal can win the team's championship as well.'

Let's see what happens in the rest of the 2025 Superlights season.
