The BA Racing team are partying at the moment after securing their 1st podium position of the 2002 season. The British team finished 3rd in this weeks Spanish Grand Prix with Dan Lawrence at the wheel.

"It's a fantastic result!", commented Lawrence, "After qualifying, I was optimistic of a top 6 finish, and was aiming to get at least 5th place [after finishing 5th in Imola], so to finish 3rd and on the podium is above expectation. My race went exceptionally well, apart from the final 2 laps where I had to drive 3 seconds off the pace [on both laps] to make sure I had enough fuel to get to the end, I literally had to drive in 6th gear at very low revs as I only had 1.4 laps of fuel left as I crossed the line to start lap 64 ...and it was a very scary few minutes!"

Unfortunately, Mal Mckee was unable to qualify and therefore did not race but is expected to be on the grid in Austria, and stronger than ever!

The team now moves onto Silverstone to test for 4 solid days to further improve what is already a competitive car.

Dan Lawrence is again going to contest the F3000 race being held here in Spain this week, as he chases his 1st win in the series while aiming to overhaul Danny Regan in the Championship Standings: "I am very confident for the F3000 race. I have seen some commments in the press from Erdem Coban, stating that he doesn't consider me a threat, which is fair enough as he is entitled to an opinion and I am not going to fuel his fire by 'sparring' in the press. I'll do my talking on the circuit."
