Jason Smith, a GPVWC Grand Prix Winner, has decided to retire from Formula 1 racing effective immediately.

The Australian cited time, or lack of it, as a major factor in this decision;

"Unfortunately I wish to announce my resignation as a Driver from the GPVWC, there are many issues leading to this decision, primarily the large workload I have of a personal nature, along with not enjoying driving at present which has arisen though issues I don't wish to bring to light at this point in time"

It is thought these issues may be rumours that other teams are pushing certain rules to the limit with a win at all cost attitude, what those costs may be we are unsure of..

Smith has been with the GPVWC since it's formation in 2000 and took the very first pole position of the leagues history at Melbourne. since then he has been a constant front runner, taking poles and a win for DL Racing in 2001 and winning the San Marino Grand Prix this year.

Jason will be continuing his efforts as League Administrator however, and has hinted at getting his formula1sims.com website site back in order.

This news is a massive blow to KRB's World Championship challenge, and one can't help wondering if Kim De Schutter knew this news was coming before stepping down as Team Manager earlier today?
