Mikko Jakonen has stormed to victory in the 2002 Monaco Grand Prix. The Finn has taken his & Mapes-VO's 1st GPVWC win! As if this wasn't good enough for the Anglo Dutch team, they had Kieran Ryan finish in 2nd place aswell! giving them a well deserved 1-2 finish. Gene Annunziata took the 3rd step on the podium with his finest result of the season.

Andy Graydon hung in there to finish a creditable 4th in his Mercedes powered MCR, and was the only other driver to finish on the lead lap.

Darren White improved on his grid position to take 5th place, and some valuable points for his CVRT team.

Blair Disley again rounds out the top 6 with anotehr fine performance for the lowly powered Dizzo-Asiatech team.

Danny Regan did exceptionally well to finish in 7th place considering he has become a father for the first time over the weekend! He finished 1 place ahead of his S.C.U.M team mate, Peter Harding, in 8th place.

Guilo Paparelli was set for 8th, but was given a 60 second penalty for failing to submit the required amount of hotlaps, he ended up 9th after the penalty was added.

The newly dubbed E.I.R.E team scored a double points finish for the 1st time, with William Ponissi in 10th and Risto Taiple in 11th.

James Davidson pulled out of the race on lap 20 while certain of a strong finish, he was classified 12th. Andrew Creek pulled out after just 0h00m04.468s ! and was classified 13th.

FIVE! drivers failed to start the race, including the pole sitter, Daan Van Renswoude and his Hernj-Roaldo team mate, Pedro Daniel Miguel. Antonio Irrissari and Mal McKee also failed to start for BA Racing aswell as Andrew Turner for MCR.
