The Irishman led Risto Kappet to claim the opening honours in the World GT season, winning from pole position in Malaysia.
On a night in which 35 cars took to the grid, the Simtech Motorsport driver upstaged favourite Risto Kappet (ACR Zakspeed) by leading the field home with a lead of 5 seconds.

It was a result that was never under serious threat as Kevin Ryan claimed pole from Fran Lopez (+0.045s) and Kappet, with Bosnian Alen Terzic a good fourth.

In the race, Ryan made the best of his starting position and drove a faultless race in his Bentley Continental to bring home a win and lead in the championship.

MadCape's Ricardo Costa completed the podium, while Peruvian star Nico Barclay put in one of the performances of the evening, going from P34 on the grid to P7 at the chequered flag.
