Formula Sprint 1 returned to the United States for Round 6 of the 2025 season, with the road course at Indianapolis returning, but it changed nothing at the front of the field.
Malta Force continued their dominant run as Mateusz Majka and Pawel Andrzejewski each claimed a victory, further consolidating the team's control over both championships.
Race 1
Giuseppe Saracino started from pole after a composed lap in qualifying, but it was Majka who seized control of the race by turn one, after they went 4 wide. There was further contact in turn two, with Saracino and Andrzejewski making contact, with Jasse Lahtinen getting involved and losing paces.
The Polish driver though kept his rhythm intact despite pressure from behind, and managed his pace to take a relatively unchallenged win, his fourth of the season.
Saracino crossed the line second after losing out early, but held firm under pressure to collect another strong result for Shiba. Patryk Roszak followed closely in third, putting together one of his sharpest drives of the season to edge out Pawel Andrzejewski.
Further back, Lorenzo De Ciutiis continued his consistent points-scoring form with fifth, a good result for him after DNFing at Spain, while Oliver Taras kept Apex GP in the frame with sixth. HGP also had a productive race, as both Frank Hamming and Vin Glenn delivered top-ten finishes and closed in on Apex and Nexium in the teams' battle.
Jesper Eriksson climbed 15 places from 27th to 12th in one of the standout recovery drives of the day, and Owen Kvilhaugsvik added another handful of points for Hundred to One after a quiet but clean run.
For Jasse Lahtinen, it was a case of what could have been. Starting on the front row, an early collision dropped him down the order, and he was unable to recover beyond 24th.
Race 2
The sprint saw Andrzejewski take his third win of the season, and his first in a Race 2 since the season opener. Starting fifth, he launched cleanly off the line and passed Hamming on lap one, picked off the others and then managed the race from the front under intense pressure.
Hamming and Glenn once again ran in close formation for HGP, claiming second and third in a result that underlined the team's steady rise through the standings.
Roszak backed up his Race 1 podium with fourth, for his best round to date, while Taras picked up another double-digit score for Apex. Ziubinski added ten more points to Hyperion's tally, and Kvilhaugsvik continued his upward trend with seventh, his best sprint result to date.
Lahtinen bounced back from his disappointing race 1 with a strong tenth-place finish, while Majka held on for four points in twelfth. It was a quieter showing by his high standards, but enough to maintain his lead in the championship.
Saracino, however, suffered a rare retirement at turn one, his second DNF of the season. With De Ciutiis also outside the points, Shiba left Indianapolis with fewer rewards than their qualifying performance suggested.
Looking Ahead
With ten rounds still to run, Malta Force may be in control, but the grid behind is tightening. HGP and Hyperion are building momentum, and Nexium and Apex are right there in the mix as well. For now, the frontrunners remain the same. See you in four weeks!
