Chris Amon and Jean-Pierre Jarier share the record for the most among non race winners, with 3 each. Amon's came between the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix and the 1972 French Grand Prix for March and Matra. Jarier's came between the 1975 Brazilian Grand Prix and the 1978 United States Grand Prix for Shadow and Lotus.

The first fastest lap, at the 1950 British Grand Prix, went to Giuseppe Farina who was driving for Alfa Romeo. The most recent driver to set a fastest lap for the first time is Robert Kubica, who achieved this at the 2010 Canadian Grand Prix driving for Renault.
