October 2011, the final round of the GPVWC Superleague championship just ended in the spotlights of Singapore. It was to bring an end to a painstaking, incredibly closely fought season. It was a season full of tears, passion and hard core racing. For the league, it heralded a new beginning, a new era for the GPVWC.

It has been 10 years since I joined the league back in Malaysia 2002, for a little known team called Mapes-VO, with an even lesser known Finn, Mikko Jakonen, as team-mate. Since then, the league has endured failure and triumph, almost collapsing in 2003 only to be revived from the brink of death, to produce statistically the closest fought championship the league has ever seen - between Shiro Ryong and Scott Whiteman (a championship decided by a solitary point in Ryong's favor).
