Spaniard takes to the top of the time sheets in impressive day for new boys Edonis Engineering.
After being the bridesmaid to Agustin Canapino last week at the Nurburgring, Fran Lopez has become the fastest driver at the second pre-season test of 2015 at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours with a 1:14.131. Though 'sand-bagging' was still abundant among many of the teams, surely the pace displayed by Lopez in both tests so far can only be a positive sign for the Dutch outfit.
In a notably closer session than last week, it was Jordan Weekes for Target who scored second in the times three tenths behind Lopez. This is the second time in two tests the Englishman has featured in the top five times and, again, can only be encouraging for his team manager Petter Kaasa.
Jarl Teien also featured once again in third, the Woods man clearly showing good consistency and Florian Geier ensured in the absence of Agustin Canapino that Nordsjoen would continue their strong pre-season campaign landing himself fourth in the times. James Johnson, team mate to Lopez, rounded out the top five over a second off the Spaniard on the other side of his garage.
No missed opportunities this week as all 42 potential cars took to the track. Ben Horrill has his first taste of the Green Stripes car after his permanent switch to the German outfit following the ousting of Finnish driver Tommi Koivunen whilst Sven Hesse, Bart De Vos, 2014 championship contender Lewis Redshaw and the aforementioned Agustin Canapino all missed the second test.
Kieran Ryan and Nick Rowland both took to their Phoenix and Midnight cars respectively for the first time this year after missing Pre-Season Test #1. Kernow Sport also made up for lost time by scoring the fourth most amount of laps at Magny-Cours. The Cornish outfit was well down on laps following their Nurburgring outing.
