The recent appointment of a new Steering Group for the GPVWC brought fresh blood, new faces and innovative ideas to the community.
As the new heads of department assume their roles, we caught up with them to hear their first words in their posts.

Simon Smith, Head of Media: "Over a decade ago I discovered one of the best hobbies and passions that, to this day, I still invest countless hours of time into and that, of course, is Sim Racing. We all love it (most of the time!) and come here unified to compete together in a diverse, fantastic force. We come for the racing; we stay for the community.

"For years I have been a voice of that community and it is a rare privledge to hold that position and so in being given that opportunity and enjoying every minute, I am delighted to be able to give back to the community I enjoy being part of. I can't wait to get started and look forward to forming and sharing my thoughts, feelings and decisions in a transparent and approachable way. See you on the track! I will be the one with the blue flag...again."

Mike Pitman, Head of Disciplinary Committee: "I am very honoured to be asked to take up this role within the league that I care so much for. This is one of the most exciting times I have been lucky to be part of GPVWC and I know together we can keep improving. Being asked to run the DC is a great opportunity to make a big impact on the league. We aim to improve on the great work that has been done there so far this year.

"My three objectives for the DC are consistency, transparency and efficiency. What this means a lot more communication with the community as a whole, a greater understanding of what to expect and clear timescales on decisions. I will be looking for like minded people to embrace these goals and get involved over the coming days and weeks."

Chris Williamson, Head of Competitions: "I'm pleased to continue to work with the GPVWC Administration and warmly welcome the recent changes in the GPVWC Management structure as I feel it provides a fantastic opportunity to improve various aspects of the league in the coming weeks and months.

"In my revised role of Head of Competitions, I'm firmly focused on continuing to oversee both the smooth running of league events as well as ensuring overall mod quality is maintained. I'm also looking forward to working with some fresh faces as we work together to adapt the league in the face of the new challenges that the 2016 season will bring."

The new heads of department will soon begin a big recruitment drive in order to bring in new staff to their respective areas. The objective, a key tenet of the GPVWC, is to increase members' participation to the various activities in order to share the sense of ownership and belonging, reinforcing the great links that make this one of the best communities on the simracing landscape.
