Streetfighter Racing Systems announce their 2016 Supercup driver lineup, ahead of the two pre-season tests for the series this month.

It's that time of year again and after a strong finish to an up and down 2015, the Sydney based Streetfighter outfit is raring to get back on track. Team Principal William Tringas was excited to announce the Streetfighter lineup for their 4th Supercup campaign and had this to say;

"Before I begin, I would like to thank Douwe Tapper for his services over the last 2 years, 68 races that brought us our first fastest lap, pole, podium, win and above all some much needed consistency in our lineup. I wish him all the best in his future racing commitments.

Moving on to 2016 - I would like to announce that 2015 Supercup Runner-up Risto Kappet and 5th placed David Francic will be joining the team this season. It's a pleasure to have such high caliber drivers on board and a real signal of our intent as a team this season. We have already been hard at work to ensure the best start that is possible to the season and we are all looking forward to the start of the rFactor 2 Era at GPVWC."

It might be seen as a major coup for the team, who in previous seasons has struggled to fill their 2nd seat.

"I have to say that it was fortunate timing and the backing of VBM and Mike Pitman that helped to seal the deal. But I also feel that Douwe's turnaround in the 2nd half of the season was noticed and that despite the turmoil surrounding the team's second seat, it was made clear that SRS is a good environment to be in."

Risto Kappet shared his thoughts on joining the team;

"Joining Streetfighter for the 2016 Supercup season is a very exciting prospect for me. The association with VBM implies superb organization and support by the team members. Also having David Francic as my teammate will definitely mean that we will be a very serious contender for the top spot by the end of the year, he is young and very fast but with enough talent to project the speed onto the tarmac and into his laptimes.

Regarding the RF2 challenge and the FR3.5 mod I am also very excited, as the complete simulation aspect gives much more depth and challenge to the racing. I have already become good friends with the car and despite the huge competition signed up for SC as always, I'm feeling very confident to take the season by its horns from the first round and keeping the level as high as I can."

David Francic also had some words to say on joining the team;

"I'm very excited to have an opportunity to show my driving skills in this team. I get along very well with Pitman and Kappet. I'm very excited and thrilled for this season as I see an incredible amount of work and effort being put into simracing by the whole team. Organization is just overwhelmingly good and I expect this to be my best experience in simracing so far."
