Most teams that took part in the 2013/14 season returned for the full 2014 season. Among the exceptions happened to be several high-profile GPVWC teams, such as Hawkeye, Woods, Racing Team Schroten, Ice Cold Racing and Green Stripes Racing. In their place came entries from relative newcomers Cosmo Autosport and Bastvik Grand Prix, but also entries from more established names, Basilea, CSG and Nijo Racing.

The 2014 International Touring Cup season was the second GPVWC International Touring Cup season. It followed on from the winter season which itself was the spiritual continuation of the GRC Touring Cup Championship, part of the now-defunct Gentlemen's Racing Club league.

Being the first full season, as it were, the 2014 season was extended from 8 rounds to 12, each made up of three races, and also saw the introduction of 4 new makes of car, doubling the available selection from the previous year. The field remained capped at 20 teams.

Adrian Holm and the THR team entered the season as defending drivers' and teams' champions, respectively. THR would successfully defend its title, with Eric Stranne becoming the drivers' champion.

Team changes

Most teams that took part in the 2013/14 season returned for the 2014 season. Among the exceptions happened to be several high-profile GPVWC teams, such as Hawkeye, Woods, Racing Team Schroten, Ice Cold Racing and Green Stripes Racing. In their place came entries from relative newcomers Cosmo Autosport and Bastvik Grand Prix, but also entries from more established names, such as Scuderia Basilea, CSG Racing and Nijo Racing.

Calendar changes

Not only was the calendar extended from 8 rounds to 12 for 2014, but none of the original tracks from the 2013/14 season were retained. Of the original rounds, only the American, Australian, British and Japanese Touring Cups reappeared for 2014, but, again, not at their original locations. The American round was moved from Watkins Glen to Laguna Seca, the Australian round from Troyton to Adelaide, the British from Snetterton to Rockingham and the Japanese from Sportland SUGO to the Autopolis Circuit.

The brand new rounds included Bahrain (Sakhir), New Zealand (Pukekohe), Russia (Autodrom Moscow), Austria (Salzburgring), Germany (Norisring), Czech Republic (Most), Italy (Monza) and Brazil (Interlagos).
